OUR STORY

“I didn’t set out to start a new company, all my focus was on Lucille’s well being”

Our Lucille, aka Piggles Wiggles, was diagnosed with terminal nasal cancer in December 2021. The prognosis was two to three months. We were devastated. I instantly started researching foods, supplements, eastern and western herbs that aid in preventing and fighting cancer. We completely changed Lucille’s diet, including making all her food from scratch. Our hope was to starve and slow down the tumor and help her with any pain or discomfort. I also began baking her treats. I used ingredients known for their health benefits, like foods with anti-inflammatory and immunity strengthening properties. I chose only the freshest organic ingredients I could fine. Not only did Lucille go crazy for the treats and her new diet, we believe these changes were instrumental in giving us so much more time with her than expected.

OUR CHEF

We adopted Lucille in March 2012 after being rescued by Southern California Bulldog Rescue. She stole our hearts! She was loving, happy, playful, smart and so funny! Lucille enjoyed dressing up and wearing wigs. She especially loved wearing her battle vest we custom made for her. She was always up for any adventure, she loved the beach and exploring new hiking trails. She could leap and spin and spin and spin, her zoomies were legendary. There wasn’t an animal she didn’t want to be friends with and she made every human she met feel special. Lucille would wiggle her whole body, hence her nickname, Wiggles. She was always so joyful, playful and loving, right up until the end. Lucille was our souldog!

I didn’t set out to start a new company, all my focus was on Lucille’s well being. Unexpectedly, all her doggie friends went bonkers for her treats, even her “picky” friends loved them. Eventually I started getting requests from their humans to make treats for them too. It became evident that our treats were special.

Sadly, Lucille eventually succumbed to the affects of the cancer and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go. December 30th 2022 she passed on peacefully in our arms at home.

Losing Lucille and from a disease like cancer has been difficult, but we are extremely thankful for every extra moment we had with her during her last year. We made every day count, not knowing when it would be her last. A friend gave us some great advice, she told us to make every day a party for Lucille, and we did.

This whole experience and our incredible Lucille inspired me to start Piggles Wiggles. I feel very blessed to be able to honor Lucille in this way and share our treats with all of you!

Make every day a party and cherish every moment - Teresa
